Online Pre-Order Cut Off Now at 4pm Everyday

We wanted to inform you that we've made an operational change that will affect all online orders. Starting today March 1st, the next day's pre-ordering cut-off time will be at 4pm.

What does this mean exactly? For example, when we close at 4pm on Wednesday, you can no longer place an advance order for Thursday. If you'd like to request a special bake for Thursday and it's after 4pm on Wednesday, call us after we open on Thursday, and we can take your order over the phone.

Long story short, our website menu will be strictly for advance orders only. You will still be able to place an advance order after 4pm--for orders two days or more in advance.

We thank you for your understanding while we go through these changes.

December 2022 Holiday Calendar

And just like that, there's less than a month left in 2022. For December, we know a lot is going on, not just for us but for you as well. While I recommend checking out our Holiday Info Page...aka 'Everything To Know About Ordering Pie for the Holidays,' here are the TOP 5 Things to Know for December at the Hawaiian Pie Company.

  • We'll be Open on Two Tuesdays (December 13 & 20). We'll be open a few extra days before Christmas, which means more days for more pie!\
  • Pumpkin Custard and Hawaiian Strawberry Guava Start on December 16. Our Thanksgiving favorite and the Hawaiian Topping version of Strawberry Guava will be available for pickup starting Friday, December 16--the weekend before Christmas. [ Order for that weekend from our REGULAR MENU ]

Pre-Orders to Reopen AFTER Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving nearly here, we have put all pre-ordering on hold as we will only be fulfilling existing orders during Thanksgiving Week. (Hence the "Coming Soon" for items on our website.) Once we can get our bearings over Thanksgiving weekend, weʻll reopen December presales--for regular weekly orders, Christmas & New Yearʻs orders, and shipping orders.

We thank you for your patience and support as we begin our family's busiest time of the year.

Thanksgiving is Upon Us...

Well, we're finally here, November. While the days and nights are becoming longer for our family we did want to make you aware of few important dates and answer a few important questions. But first, we highly encourage you to read our Thanksgiving Info page if you haven't already done so. It lays out everything you need to know about what's going on with Thanksgiving.

But, I know some people just like to skim, so here's the cheat sheet version of what you need to know...

  • The last day we'll be accepting pre-orders is Wednesday, November 16 by 11:59pm.
  • The last day to CANCEL an existing Thanksgiving order (for a refund) is Saturday, November 19 by 4:00pm (close of business).
  • All pies for Thanksgiving Week (Tuesday, Nov 22 - Thursday, Nov 24) must be pre-ordered.
  • Regular Pumpkin Pie has sold out for Thanksgiving Week--others maybe sold out by the time you read this.
  • Our shop will be closed from Friday, November 25 (Black Friday) through Wednesday, November 30th.
  • We will reopen for normal business operations on Thursday, December 1st.

We will do our best to communicate important dates and procedures, but as we get closer to Thanksgiving our responses may take long than we'd like. We thank you for understanding ahead of time and a huge mahalo to all of you for your support.

Mask Wearing in Shop to be Optional Starting on March 26

With the lifting of the statewide mask mandate after this Friday, we have decided that customers WILL NOT have to wear masks when entering our shop starting on Saturday, March 26th. We understand that everyone has their own comfort level when entering indoor spaces, so while we recommend wearing a mask in a small storefront such as ours, it will not be a requirement.

We will continue to take safety measures to mitigate any potential risk by continuing with the following safety protocols:

  • continued mask usage by our front of shop staff
  • self-service hand sanitizer & masks to any customer
  • continued use of our plexiglass sneeze guards
  • air filtration

We will also continue with the two (2) person customer limit inside our storefront.

While we understand that our safety protocols might seem overly cautious, as we mentioned earlier, everyone has their own comfort level regarding personal safety, and our family is no exception. These protocols are in place not just to protect our customers but also our staff and family.

We thank you for your understanding and support as we navigate through this change.

Storefront to be Closed on Wednesday, March 16

Sorry for the late notice, but we'll be closing our shop tomorrow, Wednesday, March 16. We made this decision late yesterday afternoon (Pi Day) when we noticed that we were running low on several different pies--most notably our Pie of the Month Orange Dream.

Don't fret though; we'll only be closed for one day for production purposes and reopen with regular hours (and freshly made Orange Dream pies) on Thursday, March 17.

Apologies for the late notice and thank you for your understanding.

Pie Sales for 2021 are Now Closed

Can you believe it? 2021 is nearly over. Having that said, today was our final day of taking orders for New Year's Eve. For Thursday, December 30, and Friday, December 31, we'll only be open for pre-order pick-ups as we're in the last stages of preparing for our final orders of the year.

After Friday, we'll be taking a bit of a break to get some much-needed rest, recharge, and catch up with all those Hallmark Christmas movies we missed out on in December.

We haven't set a date for reopening quite yet, but we're probably looking at sometime in the second or third week of January. Stay tuned to our social media or updates on the home page of our site for the latest details.

Thanksgiving Pre-Orders to go on hold JUST FOR SUNDAY

This coming Sunday, November 7 we'll briefly be putting Thanksgiving pre-orders on hold while we take some time to reconcile all the orders we've received. We're doing this in the hopes that we can put MORE pie on sale.

We'll resume Thanksgiving pre-orders on Monday morning (Nov 8).

In the meantime, we kindly ask for your patience and NOT place any Thanksgiving orders through our regular menu and then ask us to move it into Thanksgiving Week. Any request of that nature will result in the cancellation of that order.

We thank you for your and understanding.

Storefront to Remain Closed, "Open" More Days, & Thanksgiving Pre-Sale

We hoped that we could reopen our storefront to customer traffic during the summer and even started making those preparations with a target date in late August. And then the Delta variant happened. As a result of the surge of COVID-19 cases, we canceled our trip to the Big Island and 86'd our plans to reopen.

Even though cases are currently on the down swing, we are not planning to reopen our storefront till after the holidays. This decision is 1) for the continued safety of our customers and staff; 2) as we enter the busy holiday push, we want to focus on providing you, our customers, the best possible experience we can, and not be distracted with the logistics of reopening during the busiest time of the year.

Having said that, we do plan to "open" for more pickup days as we head into the holiday season. We are still working on those plans, but rest assured we will let all of you know when that will go into effect.

Finally...Thanksgiving. We touched on it slightly above, but our family and staff are already full speed ahead on preparations for the biggest pie day of the year. The orders from our grocery partners are in, and we are busy working to fulfill those orders and get them out in time to reach store shelves the week before Thanksgiving.

For Thanksgiving orders placed with us here at the shop, we are also making preparations for that. We do have a target date in mind to start taking Thanksgiving pre-orders but don't want to announce anything just yet because we're still working out some of the details. We can say that we look to launch Thanksgiving pre-sale sometime in the third or fourth week of October. Again, once we have everything locked in and ready to go, we'll be sure to let all of you know.

As always, we thank all of you for your patience and patronage as we navigate the pandemic and look forward to seeing you soon as we head into the holidays.

Easter Weekend Pie Delivery + Storefront Update

Just a quick note that next weekend we'll be partnering again with Elite Delivery to have pie orders delivered islandwide. While we know many of you have started venturing out with more of Oahu opening up in Tier 3 or because you've been vaccinated; we still still think offering delivery with Elite is a worthwhile service. We received so much good feedback during the holidays that depending on how things go for Easter, we hope to make this a regular offering for big holidays outside of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

To find out about Easter Weekend pie delivery or to schedule a delivery (after you've placed an order); check out the Elite Delivery Info Page HERE.

And on a related note...we know that many of you are eager to come down to our shop and marvel at all the goodies in our display case. However, our storefront is still closed to customers and all pies must still be ordered ahead of time either via our website or via phone (on the days we're open) in order to be picked up--everything is still baked to order at the moment.

HOWEVER, we are discussing what reopening the front of our shop would look like. We hope to have a more firm update for all of you next month.

Thanks for hanging in there with us,

Shop to "Reopen" on January 21 + Bag Ban Update

Hello 2021. If you missed our updates on our social media or via our email newsletter we're almost set to "reopen" the shop for pre-order pickups starting next week. Online ordering is now once again available. With the month being half over there will be no 'Pie of the Month' for January, but keep an eye out for National Pie Day specials and an announcement for our Pie of the Month for February sometime soon.

NOTE: As of January 1, 2021 changes have gone into affect regarding the City & County of Honolulu's 'Plastic Bag Ban'. Long story short, we are no longer able to offer complementary bags for your purchases. We are offering a number of different paper/recyclable bags for purchase. However, you must select the bag/s you'd like us to bag your order in--just as you would with selecting any of the pies off of our menu.

Be sure to look for the 'Carryout Bags' product on our menu (see above image). To make it easy to find, we've added this item to multiple menu pages. Once you click on it you'll have to select the bag/s you'd like your items to be packed in. A description of how much each bag holds as well as what each bag looks like is listed.

With that said, we thank you for being patient as we took a bit of time off after such a busy holiday season. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Updates for December

As we enter the final stretch of 2020 our shop is still bustling with activity as we try to balance the demands of all our customers. With that in mind, we have a bunch of information to share with all of you. For ALL the details regarding pre-ordering for this month we highly recommend you check out our Holiday Ordering Info page [LINK] as that details literally everything about this month. Such as:

  • Open Dates
  • Holiday Hours
  • When the Holiday Menu takes effect
  • How to Pre-Order for Christmas & New Year's
  • and more!

However, here are some answers to your most popular questions..

Can I pre-order for Christmas & New Year's?

YES! As of yesterday we've reopened our website for pre-orders. Please be aware that there are TWO menus for this month:

Regular Menu - Please use for orders that will be picked up from NOW through December 19.

Holiday Menu - Please use for orders that will be picked up from December 21 - 31. (Note: we are not open the entire length of this stretch)

Because we have two menus, do be aware that respective menu items are only available to pickup during the time periods listed above.

Can I have my Christmas or New Year's pie order delivered?

YES! We are again partnering with Elite Delivery to provide islandwide delivery service on December 23, 24, 30, and 31. All the information about Elite "Pie" Delivery can be found HERE.

Will you be having specials this month?

YES! For December 10-12 and December 17-19 we will be offering our final specials of the year. Specials will be announced early in the week and will available to purchase while supplies last.

How can I find out the most up-to-date information about your shop?

Facebook and Instagram are the best ways to find out the most up-to-date information with our shop operations. For those who are not on those platforms, our Instagram posts will now appear on our homepage BELOW our 'Best Sellers' item listing (yes, you have to scroll down to see it). Just click on any of the images to read our latest posts.

While I'd like to include even more information, I think I'll stop here as this covers most of the questions we've been getting via email and social media. As continue through the busy holiday season, we can't thank everyone enough for your support during Thanksgiving and in this final month of 2020.

Stay safe everyone,

Lots of Updates for November & Thanksgiving

When this whole pandemic thing started, Thanksgiving seemed so far away. Now that it's nearly here, we really wish there was more time to prepare. :P With all that in mind, there are a slew of updates for things happening this month so we'll try to be as straight forward as we can about all of them. To start....

Are you OPEN open?

We are still only "OPEN" for pre-order pickups. Yes, even though Honolulu is currently in Tier 2 of it's reopening strategy, we are still not allowing customers into our shop. All customers must place an order ahead of time if you'd like to pickup from our shop. THIS INCLUDES THANKSGIVING WEEK.

What days are you open this month?

As of this post, we will be "open" for pre-order pickups on the following days...

  • Thursday to Saturday, November 13-14
  • Tuesday to Saturday, November 17-21
  • Tuesday to Thursday, November 24-26

Up until November 21st we will be open from 10am to 3pm; with special extended hours during Thanksgiving Week (Nov 24-26).

Can I place an order for Thanksgiving?

YES! We highly encourage you to place a pre-order sooner rather than later. The cut of Thanksgiving Week pre-orders is Wednesday, November 18th. All the details regarding Thanksgiving Week can be found HERE.

As always, November is going to be a very busy month for us and we will try to do our best to keep you informed of everything going on as best we can. We can't thank you enough for your support this year and we hope to see you (socially distanced of course) for Thanksgiving. Take care,

Shop Now "Open" on Thursdays for Pre-Order Pickups

Starting this week, our shop will now be "open" for pre-order pickups on Thursdays from 10am - 3pm. Now you can get your pie fix three days a week, Thursday - Saturday, from 10am to 3pm.

At this time we are still not allowing any customers into our shop and require all purchases to be made in advance via our website (ie: please place a pre-order if you'd like to pickup a pie).

We'd also like to recap a few helpful reminders regarding current operations here at our shop:

  • Pre-order cut offs will occur 24 hours before a designated pickup day (example: cut for Friday will be Thursday by 10am).
  • Our delivery partners (UberEats & Grubhub) will take delivery orders from 9am to 2pm on the days that we're open. Currently only full size pies are available to have delivered.
  • Our phones are only "on" during our open hours. Should you need to contact us during after hours, the best way to do so is via the contact us page on our website. [ LINK ]

We continue to be thankful for everyone who has patroned us during these last few months and hope that you and your families remain safe.

Shop Open Fridays & Saturdays through July 4th (pre-orders only)

A huge mahalo to everyone that patroned us this past weekend. As things start to normalize in our state, we have made the decision to be "open" on Friday & Saturdays (for pre-order pickup) through Fourth of July.

What this means is that we will continue with the pre-order & pickup only format that we've had for Mother's Day weekend and Memorial Day weekend for the next six weeks. Pre-order cut offs will occur 24 hours before a designated pickup day (example: cut for Friday will be Thursday by 10am).

We will also be enabling our delivery services with Uber Eats and Grubhub on these days as well. However, we highly encourage you to pre-order with these services as best you can to help us better prepare for your order. Only full size pies will be available for delivery for the time being.

Please note that our phones are only "open" when our shop is open. When our shop is closed our phone will only play a recording with information about our next open dates. Should you need to contact us, please use the contact form via our website and someone from our staff will follow up with you.

We thank you all for your continued support and patronage. We hope you are all staying safe, and look forward to seeing you soon.

Thank you to everyone who pre-ordered and came out last weekend for Mother's Day. We didn't anticipate such a huge out pouring of support so thank you for your patience on Saturday morning.

With that in mind, we'll be opening up again on Thursday, May 21st, Friday, May 22nd, and Saturday, May 23rd--for pre-order pickups only. As with Mother's Day, you will have to call us upon arrival and we will bring your order out to your vehicle.

Online ordering is now available for Memorial Day weekend for:

  • Full Size 9" Pies
  • Mini Pies
  • Specials

We thank you for bearing with us as we try to find our way to being open on a more regular basis.

With COVID-19 steadily decreasing, we've decided to slightly open up our shop (sort of) this coming weekend. On Friday, May 8th from 12pm - 5pm and on Saturday, May 9th from 10am - 3pm customers who place a pre-order via our website will be able to pick up from our shop.

How pickup will work:

  • Once you arrive at our shop, please call us at 988-7828
  • We will verify your order over the phone and also ask what vehicle you're in. Please let us know where you would like us to place your order (truck, back seat, driver, etc)
  • After the call someone will run your order out to your vehicle.
  • No customers will be allowed into our shop (hence the importance of pre-ordering).

NOTE: Delivery services (Uber Eats & Grubhub) will also be available to order from on Friday & Saturday.

We haven't decided when we'll fully reopen just yet. We're gonna look at how we do this weekend, make adjustments, and then work from there. We are looking to be open a standard set of hours, but as with all things right now, we have to determine how best to keep everyone safe.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these crazy times. Stay tuned for more updates.

Just a brief update. With COVID-19 cases continuing to rise in Hawaii; our shop will continue to remain closed through April 30--in line with Governor Ige's "Stay-at-Home" order. Look for another update from us towards the end of this month as to whether we will reopen or continue with this closure.

Have a happy Easter and stay safe everyone!

Huge MAHALO to everyone that came out yesterday to get their last bit of pie fixes for the moment. We were actually a little overwhelmed that so many of you showed up that we kept the ovens going a little bit longer than we anticipated. ;) So yes, thank you all for your support and understanding during these crazy times.

Just to be clear though...once we feel it is safe to reopen--we will.

With that in mind, here are just a few housekeeping items to make everyone aware of during this early part of our closure...

  • Online Ordering Has Been Suspended - This includes ordering through our website, as well as through Uber Eats and Grubhub. On the off chance an order does go through (it's the Internet, things happen) it will not be fulfilled. If it's through our site, we will refund the order within 12 hours. If it's through Uber Eats or GrubHub--you will have to work with them to resolve the issue.
  • Look for Updates via Social Media and Our Website - More timely updates regarding our shop will come through our social media channels and then reposted here. Keep checking in as when we do reopen or have any important news to share...we'll let you know!
  • When will you reopen? - The short and best answer right now is...we just don't know. We've all heard the news: "this is unprecedented" & "the situation is fluid"...right now it looks like we will be closed for at least two weeks. Towards the end of the second week (roughly April 3-4) our family will make an assessment as to what to do next.

Again, we can't stress how fortunate we are to have customers such as you. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. We hope to be back soon.

This was a tough one. After much discussion, our family has made the difficult decision to close the bakery for the foreseeable future starting this Saturday, March 21st (this also means no Cinnamon Roll Saturdays :(  ). With increasing updates from local officials and medical professionals to help curb the spread of COVID-19; we have given a lot of thought to the safety of our family and customers. We feel that closing our doors serves the best interest of our community.

Tomorrow, Friday, March 20 at 4pm we'll be turning off our ovens for the foreseeable future. We will continue to monitor local developments before we determine a date/time that we will reopen. Our family thanks all of you for your patronage and understanding, and look forward to seeing you tomorrow (and of course, in the future). Take care of one another, breathe deep, and be kind. We'll survive this together. :D
